Gameworld & Content

  • Introduced a reworked Area MC5 starter mission chain. Talk to the Security Chief (who has swapped places with the Base Commander) to start it. Featuring:
    • Voiceovers;
    • A world buff, increasing RES, CST and REC, to allow an exploration of the basic crafting skills during the chain;
    • Two new mission target types: Item collection and craft skill usage;
  • Legacy (NC1) player models
    • can now be selected on character creation;
    • can be selected as a one-time change on existing characters. Visit the outfitter;
  • PPU Monks now share mission kills of targets that get killed by a team member who the PPU Monk has given PAD or Heal to;
  • Heal and PAD can now get overwritten if the incoming effect is stronger, or if it lasts longer on the same strength;
  • Spawning NPCs now have a five-second grace period, in which they will not look for a target. They will still react when attacked;
  • Reintroduced legacy resurrection GFX;
  • Reduced white noise flash on drone damage;
  • Water now reflects its environment;
  • Friendly NPCs will now tolerate up to three shots of friendly fire during combat before retaliating;
  • Grim Chaser Carcass now drops from Grim Chasers again;
  • Rare Parts are no longer called "Wrecked";
  • "Hard" Hacknet missions now require "Corrupt UDP Packet V1.3.3" kills;
  • Mission item "temp" names have been replaced with proper names;
  • Updated NeoTerm guides;
  • Changes to starter-gear and starting-skills for new characters:
    • every class/professions combination once again gets items that are usable with the starterskills;
    • added new AMC5 armor-pieces and weapons;
    • removed PPU subskillpoints and PPU-module from Inquisitor-Monk;
    • removed APU subskillpoints and APU-module from Field Meldic-Monk;
    • Crahn normal PAD shields: TechLevel changed back to their old values (Deflector TL3/Protector TL12/Absorber TL25);
    • removed Droner-NPC from AMC5. Droners now get enough drones automatically at charcreation;
  • Holy Protection: itemdescitption now correctly displays fire and poison protection;
  • Crahn PSI Power Amplifier v2+v3 now also, like the v1 implant, give bonus to PPW instead of PSU;
  • New mission "Trip to NC" for young Fallen Angels runners after having finished AMC5 and Jones-questchain (Rank 20):
    • sends runners on a mission to Neocron City for the first time and explains traveling, Worldmap, Sectormap, Navray etc.;
    • rewards credits, XP, FA factionsymp and a leveling weapon (TL20-25);
    • talk to Elias Verne in Tech Haven Sector 2 at the GenReps;
  • Removed improper placed tree in K-15;
  • Removed improper actor in H-09;
  • Removed all caps names from NPCs (except where it's intended);
  • The GenRep at Plaza Sector 1 is not longer in the wall;
  • Pulselaser pistols and pulselaser rifles models were changed from orange to red;
  • Plasmawave Cannons models were changed from green to cyan;
  • Plasmawave laser GFX changed from green to cyan;
  • Plasmawave packets (ammo) were changed from green to cyan;
  • New sound for newly added weapon Pulselaser Cannon;
  • Gatlin cannons and Plasma cannons can now be modded with a laser pointer;
  • Added the pulse laser cannon family. Ammo & mods follow the logic of other pulse laser weapon families (high-voltage, flazer, gamma):
    • Unlabeled Pulselaser cannon (TL 15);
    • Basic Pulsar Cannon (TL 46);
    • HEW Pulsar Cannon (TL 71);
    • Tangent Pulselaser Cannon (TL 91);
  • Resurrection frequency changed to 30s (normal) / 25s (blessed) and 20s (holy);
  • Normal and Blessed Protector/Absorber/Deflector now have the same frequency as the Holy counterpart;
  • Rejuvenation (Jones heal) frequency changed to match other Heals;
  • Complete revamp of all Gatlin Cannons:
    • Switched from 5 burst to 1 (full-auto);
    • Frequency adapted to full-auto across all TL;
    • Damage re-adjusted to fit the new firing mode (+2.1%);
    • Magazine size (ammo packets) from 50 to 125;
    • Reduced stamina use to account for higher frequency (from 5 at max TL to 2 across all TL);
    • Reduced and re-adjusted recoil across all TL (Equilibrium of forces from 9.0 to 1.8, the recoil value for this weapon was unusually high compared to non-rare counterparts);
  • Holy Anti-buff activation time reduced from 3 seconds to 1 second (3s cast - 1s to activate);
  • Plasma Cannon magazine size increased from 40 to 80, burst frequency increased by 12%;
  • Plasma Wave Cannon magazine size increased from 30 to 60, burst frequency increased by 12%;
  • Laser Cannon damage increased by 20%;
  • Ionic Cannon damage increased by 20%;
  • Freezer Cannons damage increased by 20%;
  • FAR-6000 Reaper Assault Rifle:
    • Requirements changed to: WOC:1, DEX:111, Rifle-Combat: 121;
    • Damage scaled per additional TL: +9% increase;
    • Recoil changed to match S.W.A.T Assault Rifle equivalent: Decreased from 6 to 1.2;
  • Protection & Heal Nanites Tool
    • Decreased hard cap on Protection nanites from 35% to 25%;
    • Class-specific requirement for all protection tool: SPY;
    • Removed nanites activity on Heal & Protection tools (going beyond 1 injection will have no additional effect);
    • Mixed Protection tools renamed to: M-Protection tool, M-Deflection tool & M-Absorption tool;
    • All mixed Protection tools now have the same level and requirements: INT:60, IMP:75 and T-C:105;
    • Single V1, V2 and V3 protection tools removed;
    • Singular protection nanites ammo removed;
    • Singular protection ammo mods removed;
    • Mixed protection tool injection strength increased (1 click to reach 25% Damage reduction);
    • Nanites duration changed to 300s (5 minutes);
    • Protection tools now hold 20 ammo (corresponding to ammo packet size);

Server & Client Updates

  • Heavy rework of the netcode, resulting in more immediate NPC movement and combat feedback;
  • Added in game RPOS and font scaling. Players can now increase/decrease the RPOS and font sizes, and change font styles from the ingame options menu:
    • This required re-work of all RPOS files. Custom RPOS files will no longer function without changes;
    • Font settings are migrated to neocron.yaml. Font.ini is no longer used;
    • Players can include custom fonts by editing neocron.yaml and setting "rpos_option" to true for a new font. NTS provided 4 officially supported fonts. Other fonts may or may not function/fit well, but players are free to try;
    • Removed language specific RPOS files. All locales will use the same files and language will change accordingly;
  • Fixed issues that caused font artifacts when the game was launched at a different resolution than the monitor:
  • World alpha-fades in the distance;
  • Hardened mission system against duplicate local mission states;
  • Mission name is now displayed with the mission acceptance message;
  • Fixed the subway doors;
  • Movement disabled in RPOS movement mode when a text input or the terminal is opened;
  • Rockets no longer occasionally leave permanent trails;
  • Mouse cursor is no longer locked when not mouse-looking;
  • Various improvements to the sound engine. Audible effects:
    • Slight fade-out/fade-in on zone change;
    • Dimmed world sounds during NPC dialogue;
    • No longer endless looping of singular ambient noises;
  • Answer options no longer overflow in the dialog window;
  • Fixed stale state transmissions resulting in zombie player actors and orphaned attached models;
  • Stat buff values now show as mouseover tooltip on the buff icon;
  • NPC fade-in/fade-out fixed;
  • Fixed time sync between server and client;
  • Head bobbing option now also enables/disabled head movements for melee hits;
  • Low player health now gives a warning vignette around the edges of the screen;
  • Fixed bone ordering caching that resulted in the Private Eye underlip bug;
  • Hacking Minigame no longer suppresses world sounds;
  • Guards will no longer shout all of their taunts at once;
  • Fixed character GFX (such as burning or stealth) not expiring on certain occasions;
  • Fixed glow billboards (such as Outpost signs) not fogging/fading properly;
  • Damage logging can now be enabled/disabled in the launcher options;
  • Invincible NPCs no longer assist on help calls;
  • Game launch time improvements;
  • Damage numbers now always correctly render the digit "5";
  • 20,000,000nc cap has been removed;
